On the Workbench: Punic Wars

Some decent headway has been made this year on the Trebia project. Plenty yet to paint but these are the latest on the painting table:

Republican Romans

These will be representing 2 legions for the game but in future games can be one or part of a legion.

Baccus do not provide separate models for the Principes lumping them together with the Hastati without chainmail armour. I merely painted armour on the figures and although not ideal, in this scale it is not too obvious unless you look very closely. It makes it easier to differentiate them from behind.
Continued -
Latin cavalry to the front with 2 bases of Equites at the rear.

Carthaginian African Spearman on the left and Spanish Scutari on the right.

African Spearmen based 24 figures to a base.

The Spanish Scutari, as lighter medium infantry, have been based more loosely 18 figures to a base. Their shields would have been more varied than this but I chose to given them a more standardised look for ease of identification.

6mm(?) is not my scale, but, man, you come so close to breaking down my prejudices! These look so good! Spectacular.
    Cheers,

  2. I think the Latin cavalry are my favourites, but shield patterns on the African Spearmen! This is 6mm at its best.

  4. Your shield work in 6mm is better than mine in 15! Great job and they will be a treat to play with no doubt.
