The start of a short series of "On the Workbench" covering painting and modelling undertaken over the past few months.
I will begin with completion of Rorkes Drift which signals the end of the preparation phase of this project and the action is now ready to be played.

The buildings are Old Glory from their 10mm range. The original plan was to use the Leven Miniatures 6mm version but on acquiring it realised that it was never going to work for a game using 1:1 figure ratio. The footprint was simply too small.
Daniel Hodgson on Facebook recommended the Old Glory model which he had used for his own game. I have used the mealy bag and biscuit box barricades that come with the Leven model supplementing them with scratchbuilt versions.
My original plan was to base the whole model which would obviously have looked better but the issue of storage came to the fore. Even gaming in 6mm still has its limits on storage which became a deciding factor in deciding not to go down this route. There is an added bonus that many of the terrain items, particularly the barricades, can be used for other settings.
An additional benefit with the larger model are removeable rooves allowing for some intriguing room to room melees.
I intend getting this game on the tabletop during 2025. Famous last words!
