Soult with what is left of the 6th Corps, now the remnants of the Army of the South, is acutely aware that he will have to make another stand against the advancing Spanish sooner rather than later. He is simply running out of land!
As he falls back Soult sees an opportunity. A strip of land they cross on the march south is bordered by a mountain on the left and a coastal clifftop on the right. What's more, beyond the mountain there are no crossing places for miles ruling out a flank attack. He decides this is as good a place as any to stop the Spanish. They will have no option but to pour everything at his front.
This then is the setting for the next game, the battle of Roseberry, a nearby village to the south west. |
Lucky Hill won that argument Jon. Otherwise he would be heading into a heap of strife!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely Ben.
DeleteCracking map update, Jon! The campaign narrative is building up to some right proper dramatic clashes across all sectors.
ReplyDeleteAll the best, Andy
Many thanks Andy.
DeleteSoult's made a good call, but how do you tell where the coastline is a cliff?
