I shall continue with breaking down my plans into Battles, Campaigns, Painting/Modelling.
BATTLES
ANCIENTS:
Early Imperial Roman: TBC from Britannia campaign.
Punic Wars: Battle of Lake Trasimene.
WARS OF THE ROSES:
Mini siege campaign.
First action - "The Messenger"
ECW:
Historical Scenarios - Stratton 16th May 1643
AWI:
Historical Scenarios - White Plains 28th October 1776
NAPOLEONIC:
Peninsular War project - Fuentes de Onoro 3rd - 5th May 1811.
Campaign - 3rd Battle of Ainsworth (French v Prussians)
ACW:
Port Republic 9th June 1862.
There is also the possibility of playing a large battle such as Shiloh but dependant on available time.
PONY WARS:
This really will be a priority this year!
COLONIAL:
Zulu Wars - Rorkes Drift
WW2:
Market Garden: Battle in the Woods from the Rapid Fire scenario book involving the UK Paras.
Operation Compass: Attack on the Maletti Group. This is a scenario from a mini-campaign acquired from Wargames Vault.

CAMPAIGNS
ANCIENTS:
Roman invasion of Britain. Rome must avenge the destruction of the 9th Legion. Map moves to be completed generating the next game.
NAPOLEONIC:
Warplan 5/5 campaign to continue. The last of the 3 battles occurring on the same campaign day to be played (see 'Battles' above) followed by map moves.
WW2 NAVAL:
The "Defending the Malay Barrier" campaign will continue. The intention will be to play through campaign turn 5 and depending on available time, possibly turn 6 concluding the campaign.
PAINTING/MODELLING
Targets for the year:
I shall be aiming for 2,000 x 6mm figures painted. Unlike in previous years I will not be setting targets for each period as it has become rather fragmented! Changing primarily to the Black Powder family of rules has meant some adjustments to various units and formations. I can therefore foresee most of the year taken up with completing those adjustments with the only significant new period being the AWI which will require a concentration of painting effort.
Elsewhere, I anticipate more WW2 ships and aircraft will be painted.
On the terrain front, there are no major projects planned so it will be more a matter of working through the collection of unpainted stock. To make the tabletop more interesting I intend to add more clutter - barrels, carts, small outbuildings etc.
A happy new year to everyone and have a great wargaming year.
Wow Jon, 2026 looks to be a great year, look forward to following. Best Wishes for the New Year.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks Norm and a happy new year to you.
DeleteI'm looking forward to your 2026 plans and your site is always inspiring. And I switched browsers so I can finally comment!
ReplyDeleteMany thanks Kieran and look forward to seeing your comments.
DeleteGreat varied plans Jon. I'll look forward to seeing the painting progress and the games as they develop through the year.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks Richard.
DeleteSounds like another great year for us followers Jon, while you have plenty to do. 😁
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking the time to post everything and all the best for 2026.
Many thanks Ben.
DeleteA lovely mix of ideas and plans there Jon:). It will come as no surprise that anything WWII and BKCII will get my vote as to which you should concentrate upon first;). Mind you any battles you put on are a feast for the eyes!
ReplyDeleteMany thanks Steve. I must do WW2 land this year before I forget the rules!
ReplyDeleteYou are a go to for inspiration - I am in 10 mm and have a small site detailing a way too ambitious project which has stalled in August 1881 at the first big engagement but looking at what you manage to do by disciplined increments over a huge investment of time it makes me want to crack on. Best of everything for 2026. Pony Wars - I know - I have the rules, a lead pile from Pendragon. I wonder how many Pony Wars projects are started but never played.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks Neil. Pony Wars has been ready to go for some time now and I really must press on with it. Too much other stuff intrudes far too frequently!
