A batch of WW2 armour has now been added to the inventory. All 1/285th scale models by 2D6 Wargaming:
This top view shows how much detail the models contain. Very crisp mouldings and a delight to paint.
2 x Jagdpanthers.
Various T34's.
I struggled to decide whether to add weathering to the T34's in particular but in the end I refrained from adding any. I have had mixed results in this scale. It is so easy to hide detail on such small models and the quality of these are such that it would be a shame to do them a disservice.
Decals may be added in the future if I can build up enough enthusiasm apply such tiny tranfers! My hands are not as steady as they used to be.
A note on the roads. They are the revamped roads detailed on previous posts but now changed to a metalled surface. I had initially gone for a dirt road appearance with a view to using them for several periods but a change of heart means they will now be used for solely for my WW2.
Those look great and you've done a great paint job. I'm amazed as the level of detail. Things have certainly come on leaps and bounds since I last gamed in 6mm.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks Steve. The level of detail is incredible for this small scale. It makes them a joy to paint.
DeleteThey really do look good Jon.

Nice work Jon
ReplyDeleteThat terrain is also very effective!
Those look fantastic, Jon, very impressive camo on those Panthers, in particular.

Many thanks Jack.
DeleteWell done Jon! Excellent paint job on some really superb casts! Do you use a wash or a dip to bring out the detail so finely?
ReplyDeleteMany thanks Mike. The whole model gets a wash of GW Agrax Earthshade prior to drybrushing. For the finer detail, vents, hatches etc, I use a black wash.
DeleteAn awesome job on these, Jon!
ReplyDeleteMany thanks Peter.
DeleteThese look great! How would you say they compare to the GHQ stuff in the same scale?
ReplyDeleteThey will fit well in scale with GHQ and the only obvious difference I can see is that GHQ models have pronounced rivets and slightly thicker tank tracks. Little difference in quality with 2D6 Wargaming models costing less that half the price in the UK.
